Young Marie and her inspiration for Ollie

Young Marie and her inspiration for Ollie

Here I am, sitting in my hotel room, at a loss for words, unsure how to feel now that I’ve said goodbye to the characters and places I’ve been so thoroughly immersed in for the past few years. When authors get together to support each other and work on exciting new projects, people take notice!

18487-1

Publishers Weekly discussed the advantages of author retreats with Marie Lu, Jessica Brody, J.R. Johansson, Morgan Matson, Emmy Laybourne, Jessica Khoury, Jennifer Bosworth, and Brodi Ashton after their recent writing trip in the Colorado Mountains.

Marie Lu, on the camaraderie: “There’s something magical about spending five solid days writing, laughing, and bonding with seven amazing authors in a place as breathtaking as Colorado. After we’d all written our spleens out at the end of each day, we’d still play games that involved words. Now that’s truly finding one’s tribe! I miss the ladies desperately.”
